Same ol same ol July 15 2006, 03:08 pm
Not much new has happened, hence the lack of news. Which in a way is kind of good. Sort of.

Spent the July Fourth weekend in LA helping Yanyan get settled in. My main objective was really to make sure she had a usable vehicle so that she isn't stranded after I leave. Her previous choices in a ship weren't exactly top notch, so I finally put my foot down and found her a Sentra-class light cruiser. Its the SE-R variant, so the increased power in the engines should keep her happy, and the enhanced life support systems will keep me from fretting about her safety. The price a little higher than what she wanted, so I put my foot down there too and paid for part of it. And that was that.

While in LA we drove up to my uncle's place so that he can finally meet her for the first time. Unfortunately the paperwork at the shipyards took so long that we didn't actually get there until near midnight. Yeah, not exactly the kind of first impression we wanted to make. But they were very accomodating for us, and made us feel welcomed.

Analysis of living conditions in LA reveal that unless you have a 8 figure income, don't even think about maintaining a decent living standard. To say that the costs of living easily equals to double the costs here where OC5 is located is an understatement. Just about everything is more expensive there, even the air. On the other hand, they have more tasty food there, a (relatively) easily accessible beach, and most importantly, easily accessible Gundams. So I guess it all balances out somewhere, even though I still feel dirty at the thought of having to move there.

CT & MTI's merger came and went. Now we're into figuring out the nitty gritty details of how exactly to go about merging. Its one thing to say so on paper, its another thing to actually do it. Its my first time experiencing this from the inside, so it'll be a good educational experience at the very least.
