Don't know why. . . but I'm feeling dead tired these past few days. Probably has something to do with getting up at ungodly hours in the morning to take Yanyan to school. Was supremely busy at work today. Not sure what was wrong with the world, but everyone and their mother had something that needed to be fixed or looked at. Time to go to a small get-together at Yanyan's friend's place. I don't know anyone there, so I guess I'll be in my observation mode. Its also in a not-so-nice part of town, so I guess I'll have to switch to guardian mode at a moment's notice. Times like this I wish I could use my CHL to the fullest. . . |

| Minor Delay | January 27 2004, 12:10 am |

After dropping off the much needed parts with my flight engineer, I was informed that there is one final little thing that must be fixed before he's willing to declare the Shadow Phoenix spaceworthy. There's a little piece in the front navigation console called the "fork stop", which prevents the ship from turning too far in either direction and causing a spinout. It is part of the main chassis, and during The Crash, I managed to snap it off completely. So now the problem is finding some way to restore the "fork stop", and so far my sources tell me a welding shop is my only hope. Evil Twin finally signed on with a ambulance company this week. He's starting orientation later today. Maybe he'll start paying me rent for all the time he's camped out here at OCIV. *chuckle*. . . The new supervisor arrived at our tech bench last week. I haven't had a chance to form my opinion of him, and at first glance he seems to be competent. Time will tell. |

| Countdown to Test Flight | January 23 2004, 12:35 am |

After finally getting into contact with my flight engineer, we're finally at the last stages of prepping the Shadow Phoenix ready for flight. This has been a long time in coming. It has been almost 16 months since that fateful crash which has left her grounded and me crippled. But bones mend, and so repairs can be made. I'm excited. . . I really am. Yan Yan is having misgivings about it though. Every time I mention about the test flight, she gets upset. *sigh*. . . . . . Meanwhile, Quincy VII is being revived and put back into service. After some discussions with HQ, it seems that they need to replace one of their aging systems. Its good to know that something as powerful as VII isn't being left unused. Oh. . . and work still sucks. I dread having to work on Saturday, because I get to work with a certain co-worker who has no misgivings about blaming other people for his stupidity. *sigh*. . . Test flight. . . test flight. . . test flight. . . |

Now that I have a little time to do some updates. . . Things at BBY have been heating up. One of the full-timers is hell bent on making everyone else thinking that he's the supervisor (even though the REAL supervisor is on his way and will be here next week). Its getting to the point of being ridiculous. His activities range from being offended that I sent an APB to everyone about a certain policy that District found that we're not following, to blaming all the shortcomings of the department on everyone but himself. While I do not claim to be immaculate, at least I'm not telling others to do things what I wouldn't do myself. There is widespread disgruntlement at the lack of response from management about this type of behavior, so I suppose that would explain why our store isn't doing as well as some of the other stores in the area. The pressure is definitely building, and something will have to give pretty soon. Spent the middle of this week back at Camelot Command for some rest and refit. Bismark received her 15,000 mile refit, while I took Yan Yan to see James Dyson's lecture on entreprenurial design. The guy's pretty smart, but he doesn't seem to be egotistical about it (other than having a autobiography about his innovative vaccum cleaner). Which is a impressive mixture by my book. The replacement parts for Shadow Phoenix have finally arrived. It shouldn't be long now before she's flight-ready. After all this time. . . its about damn time. . . Unfortunately, the next few weeks aren't going to be fun. . . |

| Rest and Restoration | January 7 2004, 09:41 pm |

So everything came to a head on Saturday, when I was completely disabled by my mysterious illness. Yan Yan did what she could at my side, but it was a battle that only I could fight in. The allergies finally left when a cold snap rolled through here Sunday night. So now I'm left with some minor sniffles because of the coldness. Mother made it back from her reconnaisance mission in China. I'm due back at HQ next week for a full briefing on future operations to be conducted on the mainland. Tense times ahead. . . I did get a really nice gift though. I've been dropping hints left and right about how I wanted a glass chess set. Yan Yan being the sweetheart that she is got me one back in June, but for whatever reasons decided not to give it to me until now. We spent some time breaking the set in, and now I have to find a decent coffee table to display it. Time to go shopping. . . again. . . :P |

| The System is Down. . . Again. . . | January 2 2004, 06:18 pm |

Well. . . I don't know which instance worse. . . this year or last year. . . Basically, what began as a annoying allergy transpired to a full-fledged flu/cold/allergy attack on my sinues. My immune system is doing everything it can to keep it at bay, but it looks like I'm fighting a losing battle. Yan Yan's been a sweetie being by my side for the duration of this campaign, and I don't know what I'd do without her. Must. . . keep. . . fighting. . . . . . |
